This sweet pittie girl has been waiting way too long for her forever couch. Found abandoned on the streets of the Carolinas, likely used as bait in dog fights (her scars tell a story she doesn’t like to dwell on), Luna has every reason not to trust humans, but she’s chosen to love instead.

At just 4 years old, she was tossed aside and ended up on the E list. Not of any fault of her own, but Buddy and friends stepped in and gave her a second shot. Now she’s waiting for someone to make it her last stop.
Luna’s got a PhD in Lap Sitting and a minor in Personal Space Invasion (with kisses, of course). She’s a little shy at first and will need a patient human who lets her set the pace—but once you’re in the circle of trust, you’re in for life.
She’s sassy, snuggly, and secretly a couch potato in disguise. Could you be her person?

Aspen is really starting to come out of his shell, and it’s such a beautiful thing to see. This gentle boy has the sweetest soul and a heart full of love just waiting to be shared.
He’s fully house and crate trained, walks like a dream on leash, and snoozes peacefully through the night. 

Calm, polite, and well-mannered, Aspen is the kind of companion who brings quiet comfort wherever he goes.

He’s still building confidence with new people and loud noises, but every day he’s growing braver. With patience, kindness, and a soft place to land, Aspen will blossom into the most loyal, loving friend you could ask for.

Aspen does wonderfully with other dogs and would thrive in a calm, steady home where he can continue to bloom.

I broke my own heart today.

It was supposed to be a good day — “Adventure Day” with a shelter dog. A chance to give them a break from the kennel, show them the world isn’t all bad. I usually love this day.

But then I met Sandy.

Sandy doesn’t wag her tail like most dogs. She watches the world like it might hurt her. Because it did. For years.

She was tied to a tree. No food. No water. No shade. No shelter. Just baking heat, cold nights, and silence. Day after day. Year after year.

Her body was starving. Her spirit almost gone.

And yet — somehow — she found the strength to chew through a metal chain. Metal. She saved herself. She ran until someone kind finally opened a door.

She’s been with us since May. And every day, we see little flickers of life come back to her. A small tail wag. A curious sniff. A moment where she forgets to be afraid.

But the pain is still in her eyes. It hits you like a truck. You feel it before she even looks at you.

She wants to trust. She’s trying so hard to believe love is real.

She needs a home with patience. With structure. With someone who gets that healing takes time. No cats. Probably no small animals — the prey drive is real. Kids? Maybe, if they’re older and know dogs. Other dogs? Maybe, with the right person guiding her.

Sandy is not broken.

She’s a survivor.

But she can’t do the rest alone.

So yeah, I cried today. The ugly kind. The "I want to save every single dog" kind.

Chevys ideal future home is an older couple, no other animals, and the understanding she can’t have high value items (Bully sticks, bones,) she plays with toys, and we do take them from her and give them back, so she knows whatever life she had before that made her feel like she had to defend her stuff, is over. 

She’s learning strangers don’t mean her harm and some of them are actually pretty cool. 

It’s huge progress. 

If you have time and patience to give her, she’s your girl. We truly love her and really want to see her in a loving home. She deserves it.

Let us introduce you to this big, blocky-headed bundle of love. At just 3 years old, Espresso has already lived a tough life. He was found wandering the streets of Randolph, alone, scared, and without anyone to call his own. But even after all that, Espresso has never stopped believing in love. 

Now listen, we get it, he looks like a tough guy. But looks are deceiving, and this boy? He’s 100% certified lap dog. All Espresso wants is to snuggle, get belly rubs, and show you his favorite toy. 

He’s well-trained, super affectionate, and a total staff favorite. If big sloppy kisses, wiggly greetings, and having your own personal shadow sound like your thing… Espresso might just be your soulmate.

BUT…. and this is important….Espresso isn’t for just anyone. He needs a home that understands and respects his breed. He needs a home that has no other dogs, small animals, or small kids. Beans trauma runs a little deep…so if you’re a Staffy lover who knows the breed’s loyalty, intelligence, and quirks, you’ll see what we see: a once-in-a-lifetime dog who just needs his person to finally come home.

Meet Goober – Proof That Hope Never Gives Up 

At 9 years old, Goober’s story is one of resilience. This gentle Pit Bull mix came to Voices For Carolina Animals in South Carolina through a cruelty seizure after years of neglect. He was underweight, battling flea dermatitis, a chest mass, and heartworm disease — yet through it all, Goober never lost his spirit.

Instead, he chose hope. During his evaluation, Goober amazed everyone with his calm, steady temperament and was even selected as the “star dog tester,” helping other dogs feel safe and understood. He gets along beautifully with male and female dogs alike, and he’s quickly become a volunteer favorite for his sweet, soulful nature.

Now, Goober finally has the chance to begin his golden years filled with love, soft beds, and full belly. Goober would do best with a kid free home but is good with other dogs
